GIL Energy
Where Africa’s energy future meets the people building it. A training and workshop series for operators, national oil companies, investors and regulators across the African continent.
Renaissance of Africa’s Energy
Watch the introduction
An introduction to the Series: why it matters now, who it brings together across the continent, and how its cohorts fit together.
One room. Serious momentum.
Africa’s energy opportunity is complex: capital, policy, infrastructure, communities and market confidence must move together. Yet the people with the power to align these forces are too often separated by sector, geography or agenda.
The Oil & Gas Series creates the room where shared priorities become credible next steps.
Regulators, operators and investors in direct, practical dialogue about the issues shaping investment and delivery.
Leave with sharper market intelligence, senior relationships and a clearer route to the conversations that matter next.
The era of drilling first and asking questions later is over. A major project can fail because of misalignment in the boardroom or the supply chain long before geology becomes the problem. Today’s leaders need quantitative risk analysis, sound commercial judgement and trustworthy data, all at once.
The Series treats training as a targeted investment in an organisation’s people: the specific data, strategy or compliance capability a team needs, delivered by practitioners.
The Series runs as three cohorts, each designed for one part of the organisation, plus a regulatory roundtable for regulators and their peers. Every program combines expert teaching with hands-on workshops built around African case studies.
Together they offer global perspectives on data-driven regulation, revenue resilience and sustainable investment growth, and close with the Roundtable’s executive review of the sector’s opportunities and risks.
Cohorts are hosted in established and emerging energy hubs, so participants learn from other basins while building their own networks.
Strategic decision makers in boardrooms, industries and government institutions across the African continent: national and international oil companies, independents, service companies, investors, gas infrastructure funds, sovereign energy institutions, ministries, regulators and industry associations.
Built for leadership teams
Every element is designed to make your organisation more informed, more connected and better positioned in Africa’s evolving oil and gas landscape.
Meet peers and decision-makers across operators, government, service providers, finance and industry bodies.
Focus on the commercial, regulatory and operational shifts affecting real energy decisions across Africa.
Place your organisation in the conversations, relationships and opportunities shaping the sector’s next chapter.
Each cohort is designed for one level of the organisation. Choose one, or send a delegation across all three.
Exact dates and fees are shared with invited participants.
Cohort 1
Financial fluency for the teams who model, account for and fund oil and gas projects.
Cohort 2
A closed-door forum for the leaders who allocate capital and sign the deals.
Cohort 3
Hands-on capability in real-time data, digital twins and safe use of AI in operations.
Roundtable
A peer forum for regulators, ministries and energy commissions across Africa.
Bring the people who turn conversations into commitments. Match each person to the program where their time away delivers the most for your organisation.
Cohort 1 gives them fluency in joint venture and production-sharing economics, fiscal regimes and project finance.
Cohort 2 is a closed-door forum of 15–20 executives on capital, deals and stakeholder governance, for the people who sign.
Cohort 3 builds hands-on capability in real-time data, digital twins and safe use of AI in operations.
The Regulatory Roundtable is a peer forum on midstream and downstream regulation, gas pricing and decarbonisation.
Leaders are invited from all five regions of the continent.
Make the case internally
Use these three points when you ask your organisation for approval to attend.
Match each person to the cohort where their time away delivers the most, using “Who should you send?” above.
Sharper market intelligence, senior relationships and a clearer route to the conversations that matter next.
Fees, dates and locations are shared with invited participants, so you can plan with confirmed figures.
The value is not simply who you meet. It is entering the next conversation already understood.
Regulatory Roundtable
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and its peers across the continent, including ministries of petroleum, energy commissions and upstream and downstream authorities, are invited to the Regulatory Roundtable. Private sector leaders are also welcome.
Senior professionals and organisations working across oil, gas, energy policy, investment, infrastructure and the wider African energy value chain. It is especially relevant for operators, national oil companies, regulators, investors, service providers and industry associations.
Yes. Each cohort is designed for one level of the organisation, so many organisations send a delegation across all three: finance and commercial staff to Cohort 1, executives to Cohort 2 and technical professionals to Cohort 3. Regulators and ministries join the Regulatory Roundtable.
Program details are being finalised. Request an invitation now, and the program team will share confirmed fees, dates, locations and participation details with invited participants as soon as they are available.
Tell us who you are and what brings your team to the Oil & Gas Series. The program team will send the relevant program, eligibility and next-step information directly to you.
